Algeria Launches “Sonelgaz International” to Boost Regional and Global Outreach

The Algerian Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies announced on Tuesday the establishment of Sonelgaz International, with an aim to develop the group’s activities beyond national borders.

This comes “within the framework of implementing the high directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at consolidating the foundations of a diversified national economy integrated into its regional and international environment, and at enhancing the access of national enterprises to foreign markets, and in line with the vision of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies, the supervisory authority of the Sonelgaz Group,” the ministry said in its statement.

The establishment of this new company comes within the context of the dynamism witnessed by the sector, particularly regarding the enhancement of its external activities, allowing Sonelgaz’s expertise and services to be exported abroad, and strengthening Algeria’s position as a reliable and active partner in its regional and international environment, the statement said.

According to the ministry, Sonelgaz International will be responsible for developing the group’s activities beyond national borders, by exploring and capitalizing on investment and cooperation opportunities, particularly in African and Mediterranean markets, while seeking to establish strategic partnerships and provide value-added services, including engineering studies, implementation, operation, maintenance, knowledge transfer, and training.

The establishment of this company also reflects the sector’s firm determination to keep pace with the transformations occurring in the global energy market and to strengthen Algeria’s international presence, relying on its considerable human and technical expertise and the successful experiences it has accumulated across its various fields of activity, the source added.
