Algeria Keen to Leverage Kazakhstan’s Expertise in Energy and Mining Sectors

ALGIERS – Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, received on Sunday the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Algeria, Anuarbek Akhmetov, the ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, the meeting focused on reviewing the state of cooperation between Algeria and Kazakhstan and exploring ways to enhance it, particularly in the fields of energy, mining, and renewable energy—reflecting the depth and strength of the ties between the two countries.

On this occasion, the Minister of State presented Algeria’s strategy for the development of its energy and mining sectors, highlighting the investment and partnership opportunities available—particularly in hydrocarbon exploration and production, the development of energy infrastructure, the oil and gas industries, and the petrochemical sector, the source said.

The two sides also discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of electricity generation, particularly in relation to production equipment, new and renewable energy sources, and the development of associated industries. They emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and transferring technology in key areas such as the energy transition and energy storage.

In the mining sector, the meeting served as an opportunity to discuss enhancing cooperation between companies from both countries and developing effective partnerships for the extraction and processing of mineral resources in Algeria.

In this context, the minister expressed Algeria’s interest in benefiting from Kazakhstan’s expertise in these fields and highlighted the sector’s eagerness for active involvement of Kazakh companies in ongoing and future major projects, particularly in the hydrocarbons and mining sectors.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to strengthen coordination and joint consultation by establishing a working group of experts from both countries tasked with identifying and monitoring bilateral cooperation projects in the fields of energy, mining, and renewable energies, ensuring tangible and shared outcomes.
