Algeria Joins Global Coalition for Social Justice

ALGIERS – The Algerian minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Faysal Bentaleb, said Tuesday that Algeria has joined the Global Coalition for Social Justice to contribute to the collective efforts to strengthen equitable social justice throughout the world.

In an address he made at a ceremony held by the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), marking the celebration of the 69th anniversary of its creation and the 54th anniversary of hydrocarbon nationalisation, in the presence of officials representing regional and international unions, Bentaleb said

“Algeria’s membership of the Global Coalition for Social Justice reflects my country’s strong belief in the importance of international cooperation to meet the common challenges and build fairer and more inclusive societies.”

“For Algeria, joining the Coalition, launched by the director general of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), is a natural and even an obvious step,” through which it intends to actively take part in the collective efforts to strengthen fair social justice worldwide and in Africa.

He explained that Algeria believes that social justice is more than a mere development goal, it is the very essence of achieving socio-economic stability and preserving the dignity of individuals and their fundamental rights, the minister said.
