
ALGIERS – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, visited on Wednesday Djamaâ El-Djazaïr. He was then received by the rector of the Mosque, Sheikh Mohamed Maamoun Al Kassimi Al-Hoceini, according to a statement from the Mosque.
In his opening speech, the rector highlighted the decisive stages the Algerian people underwent to achieve liberation, as well as the immense sacrifices made to regain independence and preserve their Islamic identity, the same source added.
The rector of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr said that this religious building now stands as a symbol for strengthening the pillars of religion as part of a unifying national religious reference—one that promotes moderation, balance, and openness.
He praised, in this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the central issue of the nation, namely the Palestinian cause, while recalling Algeria’s unwavering stance—both its leadership and its people—in supporting the Palestinian people, based on its historical principles and moral commitments, the source added.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his deep admiration for Djamaâ El-Djazaïr as both an architectural and intellectual landmark, embodying a unifying religious and civilizational message.
On this occasion, he conveyed the greetings of the Iranian people, as well as their gratitude for Algeria’s glorious Revolution and the sacrifices of the Mujahideen and martyrs for liberation and dignity, the source concluded.
