Algeria: Interior Minister holds talks with IOM Director-General on migration cooperation

ALGIERS – The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and National Planning, Brahim Merad, met with the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope, on the sidelines of the G7 Interior Ministers’ meeting held in Mirabella Eclano (Italy), according to a statement from the Ministry on Saturday.

During this meeting, both parties praised “the quality of the cooperative relations between Algeria and the IOM, as well as the positive momentum of their joint work,” added the same source.

On this occasion, “the IOM official commended the efforts of the Algerian authorities in supporting the organisation’s actions, through the mobilisation of human and material resources for the humanitarian care of migrants and the facilitation of its work with regard to the voluntary return of migrants.”
