Algeria, India Hold 7th Session of Political Consultations

The Secretary-General of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lounes Magramane, co-chaired on Sunday, at the ministry’s headquarters, with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India in charge of Cooperation with Global South Countries, Neena Malhotra, the 7th session of the Algerian-Indian political consultations, according to a statement from the Ministry.

The two sides commended “the historical ties, friendship, and cooperation linking Algeria and India, as well as the positive momentum in bilateral relations, particularly following the State visit of the President of the Republic of India, Droupadi Murmu, to Algeria in October 2024, and the valuable discussions she held with the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” according to the statement, The discussions allowed for addressing “ways to elevate the strategic partnership to the highest levels in line with the capacities of both sides across various fields, as well as reviewing the schedule of upcoming bilateral engagements to leverage them in the interest of the two countries,” the statement added.

The two sides also “exchanged views on a number of current regional and international issues of mutual interest, particularly those related to developments in the spheres of influence of both countries,” according to the Ministry’s statement.
