Algeria, India Explore New Opportunities in Energy and Mining Cooperation

The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received India’s Ambassador to Algeria, Swati Vijay Kulkarni, on Wednesday, with whom he discussed ways to foster bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of hydrocarbons and mines, according to a ministry’s communiqué.
During this meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the presence of the sector’s officials, the two sides discussed ways to boost cooperative relations between Algeria and India, particularly in hydrocarbons and mines. They also emphasized the depth and strength of the historical ties that unite the two allied countries, the source added.
In this regard, the two officials focused on the promising investment opportunities provided in Algeria across various energy and mining activities, particularly in the fields of exploration and production, petrochemicals, energy infrastructure development, engineering, manufacturing of oil and gas equipment, as well as the marketing of oil, gas, and refined products.
Arkab and Italy’s ambassador confered on cooperation opportunities in the fields of phosphate production and processing, as well as the manufacturing of phosphate and nitrogen-based fertilizers, being areas of mutual interest.
On this occasion, the ambassador expressed the interest of Indian companies in the Algerian market and their willingness to contribute to the development of ongoing and future projects in the sectors of hydrocarbons, oil and gas industry, and fertilizer production.
She further emphasized her country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation on a broader scale, in the best interests of both countries, according to the communiqué.
