Algeria Hosts Consultative Meeting of A3+ Group

A consultative meeting was held in Algeria on Monday between the A3+ group’s members and the new members who will begin their terms on the Security Council starting next January, namely the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Bahrain, Colombia, and Latvia.

The meeting was held at the initiative of Algeria, the current coordinator of the A3+ group.

This meeting, held on the sidelines of the 12th edition of the High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, “Oran Process,” provided an opportunity for a constructive discussion between outgoing and incoming A3+ members on various issues, allowing for the exchange of views and sharing of experiences on ways to strengthen cooperation among the elected members of the Council, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

According to the statement, the Algerian initiative aims to reinforce the role of the A3+ group as a unified voice advocating for Africa’s interests and to share the successes achieved by this mechanism with the new members through the “Oran Process” platform, which Algeria hosts annually.
