ALGIERS – The Algerian Minister of Youth, in charge of the Higher Council of Youth (CSJ), Mustapha Hidaoui, chaired on Monday a ceremony, in Algiers, to honor African students pursuing their studies in Algerian universities and institutes.
Held under the slogan “Together, let’s continue celebrating Eid in our African home,” this ceremony aims to “root the values of solidarity and fraternity, which are an integral part of our national identity, while strengthening coexistence and cultural and scientific exchange among young people,” said Hidaoui.
The second edition of this ceremony, attended by 200 students from 44 African countries, was “an opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen the close ties between Algerian youth and their African brothers,” as well as to “uphold the principles that Algeria advocates for in international and regional forums,” added the minister.
For his part, the representative of the African students praised this initiative, while calling for “preserving noble human values and deepening cultural and intellectual exchanges among the various African peoples, within the framework of the concept of a unified identity.”
On this occasion, the second issue of the magazine “Youth Diplomacy” was unveiled, followed by the screening of a documentary film about “the efforts made by Algeria to promote and develop education in Africa.”
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Advisor to the President of the Republic for Political Affairs and Relations with Youth, Civil Society, and Political Parties, Mohamed Chafik Mesbah, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs, Salma Bakhta Mansouri, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Algeria.
