Algeria: Health Minister Hosts Qatari “Estithmar Holding” Delegation

On Thursday in Algiers, Minister of Health Abdelhak Saihi met with a delegation from the Qatari company “Estithmar Holding,” led by Mohamad Moutaz Al-Khayyat, Chairman of the Board of Directors. This meeting was part of ongoing discussions concerning joint projects between the two countries, particularly in the healthcare sector, as outlined in a ministry communiqué.

The meeting, which also included the Qatari Ambassador to Algeria, Abdulaziz Ali Al-Naama, along with officials from the central administration, provided “an opportunity to express satisfaction with the progress of the Algerian-Qatari-German hospital project. This achievement has been attributed to the effective governance of both nations under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani,” as stated in the communiqué.

In this context, the minister highlighted that the hospital project has marked a significant starting point for Qatari investments in Algeria’s healthcare sector. He expressed hope that these investments would expand into other projects, given the mutual interest of both parties.

Minister Saihi also emphasized the importance of completing the project within the established timeline, with a target completion date set for the end of 2026. He affirmed his commitment to overseeing its realization until delivery, emphasizing its critical significance.

For his part, the Chairman of Estithmar Holding praised the support received from Algerian authorities in strengthening the Qatari presence in the country and commended the success of the registered projects in the healthcare sector. He noted the establishment of a comprehensive program based on a clear roadmap to ensure the timely execution of the Algerian-German-Qatari hospital project.

In this regard, the Qatari official stated, “The situation is evolving positively to guarantee optimal implementation of the project within record time, particularly regarding staffing and necessary equipment, with the aim of delivering it before the end of 2026.”

Al-Khayyat also took this opportunity to extend his heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the support of this project, especially the Minister of Health and the officials from the central administration. He invited them to visit Doha to closely examine Qatar’s healthcare sector and its international hospitals, which utilize artificial intelligence (AI) in medical diagnostics, and to participate in scientific workshops, as concluded in the communiqué.
