Algeria will serve as the guest of honor representing the African continent at the 28th edition of the International Handicrafts Exhibition (Artigiano in Fiera 2024), which is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 8 in Milan, Italy. The event will see participation from over 100 countries, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts.

Tourism and Handicrafts Minister Houria Meddahi will begin an official working visit to Milan from November 30 to December 2. During this time, she will oversee Algeria’s participation as Africa’s guest of honor at the fair, which features more than 100 participating nations.

This significant international event is expected to enhance “Algerian-Italian cooperation” in tourism and handicrafts, which is progressing steadily in line with the strong desire of both countries to develop fruitful and mutually beneficial collaborations at all levels. The statement emphasizes that the event will also reflect the deep cultural ties between the two nations, grounded in mutual understanding and respect.

“Algeria’s participation in this international event will showcase the historical and fraternal relations between Algeria and Italy, which continue to strengthen with each occasion, thanks to the commitment of the leaders of both countries,” the statement notes.

For Algeria, this international fair represents “a bridge of communication between different peoples and will promote its cultural heritage through the skills and creations of over 80 participating Algerian artisans and artists,” it continues.

The involvement of Algerian artisans will provide “a great opportunity for visitors to the Algerian pavilion to closely appreciate the beauty and splendor of products, artistic works, and creations crafted by Algerian artisans, conveying the authenticity and identity of Algeria’s cultural, artistic, and civilizational heritage,” the statement concludes.
