ALGIERS- General Saïd Chanegriha, the deputy minister to the minister of National Defence, chief of staff of the People’s National Army, supervised Tuesday, the second day of his visit to the 2nd Military Region, a tactical exercise with live ammunition intitled “Sumud 2025,” the ministry of National Defence said in a statement.
“On the second day of his visit to the 2nd Military Region, General Saïd Chanegriha, the deputy minister to the minister of National Defence, chief of staff of the People’s National Army, supervised on Tuesday 27 May 2025 a tactical exercise with live ammunition, ‘Sumud 2025,’ conducted by the units of the 36th Mechanised Infantry Brigade, supported by units from various forces, and which is part of the closing of the combat readiness year 2024-2025,” the statement said.
At the firing and manoeuvring range, accompanied by Major General Mohamed Tayeb Brakni, the Commander of the 2nd Military Region, General Chanegriha listened to a presentation by the Commander of the 36th Mechanised Infantry Brigade on the general idea and the stages of the exercise, aimed at “strengthening combat capabilities and coordination between the various army staffs.”
The exercise is also aimed at “training commands and staff to prepare for, plan and conduct operations in the face of potential threats,” the statement said.
General Chanegriha “closely followed the combat actions carried out by the units involved.”
“Those actions were distinguished by a high level of professionalism at all stages of execution, with a high operational and tactical level, showing the high combat capabilities of crews and commanders at all levels,” the statement stressed.
