Algeria–France: Nunez Expresses His “Wish” to See Cooperation Continue Between the Two Countries

ALGIERS, Feb 17, 2026 – French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez expressed on Tuesday in Algiers his satisfaction with his visit to Algeria and his wish to see cooperation continue between the two countries.
“I have just met with the President of the Republic, who did me the honor of receiving me after having worked throughout the day yesterday with my counterpart (Saïd Sayoud), as well as with all the officials of the Algerian and French security services,” he said following the audience granted to him by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Nunez stressed that the objective is to “reactivate a very high-level security cooperation framework,” adding that it “covers judicial, police and intelligence cooperation, in order to strengthen and resume normal security relations.”
The French minister also thanked the President Tebboune, who, he said, “asked his services to work with the French services to significantly improve our cooperation in police, judicial and readmission matters.”
“All of this will now be put in place as soon as possible,” he underlined, expressing his wish to see this cooperation “continue” at the “highest level.”
