ALGIERS – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has blamed the deterioration of Algerian-French relations on hostile statements made by French politicians against Algeria. He stated that these remarks have created a “poisonous atmosphere,” further straining diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Tebboune’s remarks reflect Algeria’s growing frustration with France’s political discourse, which has repeatedly sparked tensions in recent days. Relations between Algiers and Paris have been marked by disagreements over historical issues, immigration policies, and France’s stance on regional conflicts, including Western Sahara.
The Algerian president’s statement underscores the fragile nature of bilateral ties, as Algeria remains firm in defending its sovereignty and interests. His comments also signal that any improvement in relations will depend on France adopting a more respectful and constructive approach toward Algeria.
