Algerian FM Engages in Private Talks with Finnish Counterpart in Helsinki

On Thursday, Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held private discussions in Helsinki with Finland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen. This meeting was followed by an extensive working session that included members from both delegations as part of Attaf’s official visit to the Republic of Finland, according to a statement from the ministry.

These discussions “provided an opportunity to review the friendship and cooperation between Algeria and Finland and to explore ways to elevate their relationship to new heights, considering the robust political dialogue and the successful joint investment initiatives undertaken by various economic operators from both countries,” added the same source.

In this context, they underscored “the necessity of establishing institutional mechanisms designed to enhance bilateral cooperation and enrich the legal framework governing their relations.” They also “encouraged greater interaction and communication among business sectors in both nations.”

The two ministers addressed “current developments on regional and international levels, particularly concerning the Middle East and the Sahel region, as well as the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.” They also reaffirmed “the importance of coordinating efforts to promote the values of peace, justice, and freedom while upholding the principles of international law and the objectives outlined in the United Nations Charter,” as stated in the release.
