Algeria: FM Attaf to partake in 2nd Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh

RIYADH – Representing the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, will partake on Monday in the Second Arab-Islamic Summit, which will be held in the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, according to a ministry statement on Sunday.

“This joint summit between the League of Arab States and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) aims to examine developments in the Palestinian issue and the situation in the Middle East,” the source added.

“The summit’s discussions will focus on ways to promote Arab and Islamic efforts to address the existential challenges posed by the ongoing (Israeli) aggression against Gaza and Lebanon and the escalation across the region,” the statement continued.

Algeria’s participation in this summit “is part of its consistent commitment to support the Palestinian cause and its unwavering solidarity with the Lebanese people in their struggle against the barbaric Zionist aggression,” the source emphasised.

“As a member of the Arab group on the United Nations Security Council, Algeria will actively contribute to the implementation of the summit’s conclusions, in line with its ongoing efforts since joining this key UN body,” the statement concluded.
