Algeria: FM Attaf holds bilateral talks with UNGA President

The Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral talks on Sunday in New York with the President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Philémon Yang, according to a ministry statement.
On this occasion, the minister expressed pride in seeing a Cameroonian and African leader presiding over the UNGA in its current session, assuring him of “Algeria’s full support in fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to it, particularly those related to strengthening the role of the African continent in the international multilateral action in general and within the UN in particular.”
The two parties also exchanged views on the prospects for the UNGA’s contribution to enabling Africa to achieve its priorities for the next phase, such as “the reform of the UN Security Council, the restructuring of international financial and monetary institutions, and the mobilisation of international financing to achieve the development, complementarity, and integration goals outlined in the Africa 2063 Agenda,” added the statement.
