
ALGIERS – A military fighter aircraft crashed Wednesday, during a training flight near the region of Aoulef, in the province of Adrar (1543-km south of Algiers), leading to the death of the pilot, Lieutenant-Colonel Bekkouche Nasr, the ministry of National Defence in a statement.
“During a planned training flight, a fighter jet crashed Wednesday, 19 March 2025, near the region of Aoulef, in the province of Adrar (3rd Military Region), causing the death of the pilot, Lieutenant-Colonel Bekkouche Nasr,” the statement said.
“In this painful circumstance, General Saïd Chanegriha, the deputy minister to the minister of National Defence, Chief of staff of the People’s National Army, offers sincere condolences, in his name and on behalf of the personnel of the People’s National Army, to the members of the family and relatives of the martyr pilot, expressing his deep compassion, praying to Almighty Allah to grant them strength and courage, grant the deceased His holy mercy and welcome him in His vast paradise,” the statement said.
Following the tragic incident, General Saïd Chanegriha “ordered the opening of an inquiry to shed light on the causes and circumstances of the accident. Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return,” the statement concluded.
