Algeria Explores Cooperation and Partnership Opportunities at CIM Connect 2025

Algerian Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy, responsible for Mines, Karima Tafer, participated on Monday in the CIM Connect 2025 Conference and Exhibition, being held in Montreal, Canada, as part of Algeria’s approach to strengthen its international engagement and promote both bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the mining sector, particularly with Canada, while also aiming to highlight Algeria’s significant mining potential, attract high-quality investments, and foster the transfer of knowledge and technology, according to a statement by the Algerian ministry.
Algeria’s participation also reflects its commitment to building a modern, sustainable, and competitive mining sector, based on innovation and resource governance, in addition to actively contributing to efforts in energy transition and sustainable economic development, in line with the vision of the country’s top authorities, the statement said.
In this regard, Karima Tafer is set to hold several bilateral meetings with Canadian officials, representatives from international institutions and organizations, as well as with investors and major companies in the mining and technology sectors, aiming to explore cooperation and partnership opportunities, exchange expertise, and advance the development of mining projects.
The 2025 edition is held under the theme “Minerals, Innovation, and Energy Transition,” with the conference’s scientific and technical program focusing on strategic topics such as artificial intelligence in the mining sector, renewable energy technologies, energy storage, digitization of mining value chains, global market trends for minerals, as well as best practices in sustainability and environmental responsibility, the source added.
This event is one of the premier international gatherings in the mining industry, organized by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).
