
ALGIERS, February 6, 2025 – Hamida Kettab was elected president of the African Network for Cancer Control on Wednesday evening during the closing session of the 1st International Congress of Cancer Patients, which took place on February 4-5 in Algiers, according to a statement from the National Observatory for Civil Society (ONSC).
“The members of the African Network for Cancer Control convened a coordination meeting to formulate future visions and outline collaborative action plans. Mrs. Hamida Kettab has been elected as the network’s president, with its headquarters based in Algiers,” the statement noted.
Representatives from 14 African countries participated in the 1st International Congress of Cancer Patients, where they enthusiastically endorsed this initiative, marking a significant advancement in coordination and cooperation among African nations in the battle against cancer.
Under the high patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the event was co-organized by the Algerian Federation of Associations of Cancer Patients (FAAPAC) and the National Observatory for Civil Society (ONSC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
