Algeria-Egypt: Joint High Commission Explores Investment Opportunities

The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) and the Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) discussed complementarity opportunities between the two countries, during the first meeting of the Algerian-Egyptian Technical Commission for Cooperation on Investment, held in Cairo.

The meeting is held as part of the 9th session of the Joint High Algerian-Egyptian Cooperation Commission (November 23-26), with a view to fostering bilateral coordination and the exchange of expertise in the field of investment promotion, particularly with regard to “improving services to investors and developing support mechanisms for the investment sector in Algeria and Egypt.” On this occasion, Director General of the AAPI, Omar Rekkache, described this meeting as “a qualitative step towards fostering bilateral economic relations,” noting that “the continued growth of Egyptian investment in Algeria, with 21 projects registered by Egyptian investors, and numerous requests to extend these projects, reflects the attractiveness of the investment climate in Algeria and its ability to provide an environment that encourages foreign investors.”

Rekkache also reviewed the deep economic reforms undertaken by Algeria in recent years to “build a strong economy based on productive investment as the main driver of growth, integrate international value chains through political, social, and institutional stability, and adopt a clear economic vision.” For his part, Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI CEO), Hossam Heiba, invited Algerian businessmen to “strengthen their presence in Egypt,” and to “explore promising opportunities,” stressing “GAFI’s willingness to grant all facilities, particularly in light of the expansion of digital transformation services.” A minute of the meeting was signed by both parties, who agreed to hold the second meeting of this technical committee in Algiers, in 2026.

PM Sifi Ghrieb arrived in Egypt earlier today for an official visit as part of the 9th session of the Algerian-Egyptian Joint High Cooperation Commission.

Upon his arrival at Cairo International Airport, Sifi Ghrieb was welcomed by his Egyptian counterpart, Moustafa Madbouli.
