Algeria, DRC Discuss Energy Cooperation and Investment

ALGIERS, Nov 4, 2025 –  The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, held talks in Brazzaville with Acacia Bandubola Mbongo, Minister of Hydrocarbons of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on investment opportunities between companies from both countries in the hydrocarbons sector, particularly in research, exploration, and the oil and gas industry, the ministry said in a statement.

The meeting, held ahead of the 48th Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO), focused on ways to strengthen cooperation and investment opportunities, especially with Sonatrach, as well as training programs through the Algerian Petroleum Institute (IAP).

Arkab reaffirmed Algeria’s readiness to support the DRC in developing its hydrocarbons industry, highlighting Algerian expertise in research, exploration, production, field development, refining, and natural gas and LNG transport, in addition to technical and regulatory aspects of petroleum industry management.

The meeting was attended by Algeria’s ambassador to the DRC, Sonatrach CEO Noureddine Daoudi, Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority (ARH) president Amine Remini, and several sector officials.

Discussions also covered refining cooperation, oil services, gas and LNG development, technical assistance in petrochemicals and LPG use, and expertise exchange in health, safety, training, and human capital development.
