Algeria Crushes Mozambique 5-1 in Dominant World Cup Qualifier!

TIZI OUZOU, March 26, 2025 – The Algerian national football team achieved a commanding victory against Mozambique, winning 5-1 (halftime: 3-1) in the sixth round of Group G qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The match took place on Tuesday evening at the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi-Ouzou.

Algeria’s goals were scored by Amoura (8th, 30th, and 80th minutes), Mandi (24th minute), and Hadjam (65th minute). Catamo netted a consolation goal for Mozambique in the 39th minute.

In other matches earlier that day within Group G, Uganda secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Guinea, while Botswana triumphed over Somalia with a score of 2-0.

After this round of matches, Algeria leads the standings with 15 points, followed by Mozambique with 12 points. Both Botswana and Uganda have 9 points each, Guinea has 7 points, and Somalia sits at the bottom with just 1 point.

The upcoming seventh round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, scheduled for early September 2025, will feature Algeria facing Botswana, Somalia taking on Guinea, and Uganda competing against Mozambique.

As a reminder, the winners of the nine groups will qualify directly for the final phase of the 2026 World Cup, while the four best second-placed teams will enter a CAF playoff tournament. The winner of this CAF playoff will then advance to the FIFA intercontinental playoff.
