Algeria Condemns Renewed Zionist Aggression on Gaza at UN Human Rights Council

GENEVA – Algeria strongly condemned Zionist renewed military assault on Gaza during the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, calling for urgent international action to enforce the ceasefire agreement signed in January. Speaking during the general debate, Algeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Rachid Bladehane, denounced the attack as a flagrant violation of international law and a setback to peace efforts.

Algeria reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and criticized what it described as double standards in addressing human rights violations. The country urged the Human Rights Council to uphold its mandate by fostering international cooperation and ensuring equal scrutiny of human rights situations worldwide, without selective targeting of certain states. The Algerian representative stressed that genuine human rights promotion must be based on impartiality, objectivity, and respect for national sovereignty.

Amid growing concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Algeria called on the global community to intervene swiftly to prevent further bloodshed and suffering. The statement reiterated Algeria’s full solidarity with the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the need for an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Al-Quds as its capital.
