Algeria Calls for Comprehensive Political Solution to Palestinian Issue

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, addressing the UN Security Council on Monday, emphasized that a ceasefire in Gaza is incomplete without a definitive political resolution to the Palestinian question. Speaking on behalf of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Attaf called for a sincere and urgent process to achieve the two-state solution recognized by the international community.

He reiterated Algeria’s commitment to humanitarian efforts in Gaza, support for Palestinian reconciliation, and strengthening the foundations for an independent Palestinian state. Algeria also seeks Palestine’s full UN membership and greater international recognition ahead of a planned global conference on the issue in 2025.
