Algeria / Belgium: Partnership agreement signed in medical sector

ALGIERS – A partnership agreement was signed on Monday in Algiers between the National Social Security Fund (CNAS) and the Brussels University Hospital (Belgium).

The agreement was signed by CNAS Director General Nadir Kouadria and Brussels University Hospital Director General Renaud Witmeur, under the supervision of the Minister of Labour, Employment, and Social Security, Fayçal Bentaleb, and the Belgian Ambassador to Algeria, Jean-Jacques Quairiat.

During the event, Mr. Bentaleb stated that this partnership aligns with “the efforts of the Algerian authorities to improve the quality of medical care for citizens,” emphasising its goal of enhancing collaboration in the medical field between the two countries and benefiting from the advancements in medical expertise in Belgium, particularly in paediatrics, oncology, and cardiac surgery.

He added that “the agreement includes clauses related to training and technology transfer, through the establishment of a joint action program coordinated with the health sector and the National Cancer Prevention and Control Commission, initially focussing on nuclear medicine, oncology, and paediatrics.”

On this occasion, the minister highlighted the national efforts in the health sector, which continue to improve through achievements reflecting the state’s commitment to ensuring quality health care for citizens.

The Belgian ambassador expressed satisfaction with the relations between the two countries, underscoring the importance of this agreement in enhancing the exchange of expertise in medical care.

The Belgian delegation is scheduled to visit the Bou-Ismaïl paediatrics medical-surgical clinic (Tipasa) and the “Mohamed-Lamine Debaghine” University Hospital in Algiers to present Algeria’s experience and available resources in this area.
