Algeria: APN Speaker holds bilateral talks with Parlatino President

The Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), Brahim Boughali, held bilateral talks on Sunday in Geneva with the President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), Rolando Patricio, on the sidelines of the 149th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), according to a statement from the lower house of Parliament.
The discussions “provided an opportunity to address the new status of the APN as an observer member of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, as well as the promising prospects for cooperation between the two bodies, especially considering the privileged bilateral relations between Algeria and the members of Parlatino,” the statement said.
On this occasion, President Patricio stated that “Algeria’s current presidency of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) will provide a valuable opportunity to deepen parliamentary cooperation and create an Arab-Latin American space, in addition to Algeria’s positive contribution within this parliamentary body, particularly in terms of the exchanging experiences in legislative action.”
Both parties expressed “satisfaction with the alignment of views on several current issues of mutual interest,” the statement concluded.
