ALGIERS – Algerian Minister of Finance, Abdelkrim Bouzred, signed a bilateral cooperation agreement between Algeria and Uganda with his Ugandan counterpart, Matia Kasaija, in the presence of the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, responsible for African Affairs, Selma Bakhta Mansouri.
This agreement, signed at the headquarters of the Algerian International Cooperation Agency for Solidarity and Development, aims to facilitate tax, administrative, and customs procedures between the two countries. Accordingly, it seeks to create a favorable environment for the implementation of major projects approved by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and overseen by the agency, according to Algeria Press Service (APS).
The agreement also centers around a flagship project involving the renovation and expansion of Kitakwi Hospital in eastern Uganda. Work on this project is expected to begin within three months, in partnership with Ugandan institutions as part of a comprehensive local economic partnership.
This agreement, based on the goal of strengthening the bonds of friendship between Algeria and Uganda, forms part of a broader effort to deepen the historical and multifaceted ties between the two nations. It notably focuses on areas such as public health, sharing expertise, and exchanging best practices.
