Algeria and U.S. Discuss Strengthening Civil Society Cooperation

ALGIERS — Algeria’s National Civil Society Observatory (ONSC) President, Ibitissem Hamlaoui, received U.S. Ambassador to Algiers, Elizabeth Moore Aubin, on Tuesday, as part of efforts to enhance cooperation and dialogue with international partners, according to an ONSC statement.

The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to support civil society and increase the participation of women and youth in community engagement through training, project management, and local support for grassroots initiatives.

Hamlaoui reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to building international partnerships that empower civil society actors and promote the values of dialogue and active citizenship. Ambassador Aubin praised the ONSC’s recent momentum, describing it as “an inspiring institutional model for organizing community action and revitalizing civil society in Algeria,” the statement concluded.
