Algeria and Rwanda Explore Opportunities for Military Cooperation and Strengthening Coordination

ALGIERS – Algeria’s Army General Saïd Chanegriha, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, met on Tuesday with the Chief of Defense Staff of the Republic of Rwanda, General Mubarakh Muganga, who is on a working visit to Algeria, leading a high-level military delegation, the Algerian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
During the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities for bilateral military cooperation, as well as ways to develop and strengthen coordination on issues of mutual interest. They also addressed the security challenges facing the world in general, and the African continent in particular, and exchanged views on various current issues, the statement said.
“Algerian-Rwandan relations have, since the independence of our two countries, been a model of solidarity among the peoples of our continent, and an example of political coordination in international forums to defend Africa and its core issues,” Army General Saïd Chanegriha said in his welcoming speech.
The Chief of Staff of the Algerian Army stated that bilateral relations have experienced a renewed dynamic in recent years, especially following the visit of the Chief of Defense Staff of the Rwandan Defense Forces to Algeria in September 2022, as well as his (Army General Chanegriha) visit to Kigali in February 2024, the source added.
For his part, General Mubarakh Muganga praised the warm welcome extended to him and his accompanying delegation, as well as the strong commitment he observed from the Algerian side to strengthening cooperative and consultative relations between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, with the aim of enhancing security and stability in the African continent, according to the statement.
