ALGIERS — The Algerian Minister of Communication, Mohamed Meziane, met on Monday in Algiers with a CNN delegation to discuss partnership prospects in the media sector, the ministry said in a press release.
The delegation included the director at CNN International, in charge of strategic partnerships for the Middle East and Africa, Walid Chamak, and the vice-president in charge of strategic partnerships within the same group, Oikonomou Konstantinos, the press release said.
The meeting provided “an opportunity to discuss partnership prospects in the media sector,” according to the same source.
The press release noted that “the CNN delegation expressed interest in establishing a partnership with Algeria in information and public relations, with the possibility of opening a CNN office in Algeria, as well as launching a branch of the channel’s digital platform dedicated to regional affairs.”
In this regard, “it is planned to expand media cooperation between Algerian media institutions and the CNN group, particularly through a partnership with the Public Television Establishment (EPTV) and an international opening in collaboration with the Algerian university,” the press release said.
The CNN delegation also explored training prospects with Algeria, including the establishment of an academy to train journalists and media professionals, the statement concluded.
