Algeria and APPO Explore Cooperation Opportunities in Energy Sector

Algerian Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, received on Sunday the Secretary-General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization, where they discussed ways of cooperation and partnership between the energy and renewable energies sector and this regional organization.
During the meeting, Ghezali outlined the key elements of the roadmap that the organization plans to implement in the coming period to enhance African-to-African cooperation, particularly in ensuring the self-sufficiency of regional markets. According to him, the successful execution of this strategy requires the active involvement of all energy stakeholders in Algeria, especially those in the energy and renewable energies sector, the Algerian Ministry of Energies and Renewable Energies said in a statement.
On his part, the Minister expressed his welcome for cooperation with this regional organization, emphasizing the need to expand its activities to include energy and renewable energy sectors. He stressed that this would open broader avenues for collaboration between the organization and the sector, thereby creating greater opportunities for Algeria to establish itself as an important and reliable energy partner.
Minister Adjal also highlighted the significant capabilities and expertise that Algeria possesses through its energy institutions, which make the country well-positioned to enter the African market and capture a substantial share, as a partner capable of meeting the needs of the African market across the entire value chain, the statement said.
Moreover, he underscored the important role that Sonelgaz International can play in strengthening this cooperation, noting that the company has the necessary framework to enable both public and private Algerian companies to access foreign markets, particularly in Africa, through genuine and effective partnerships, the source added.
