Algeria : 35 Terrorists, 227 Supporters Neutralized in First Half of 2025

ALGIERS — 35 terrorists and 227 support elements to terrorist groups have been neutralized as well as 333 firearms and a quantity of ammunition have been recovered during the first half of this year, said Wednesday an operational report of the Algerian People’s National Army (PNA).

“As part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts and the fight against various forms of organized crime, PNA units and detachments conducted multiple operations during the first half of 2025, achieving significant results that demonstrate the high professionalism, vigilance and constant readiness of our armed forces countrywide to counter all attempts to undermine our nation’s security, stability and sovereignty,” the source said.

In counter-terrorism operations, “our armed forces neutralized 35 terrorists and 227 supporters, while recovering 333 firearms and quantities of ammunition,” the same source said.

In the fight against organized crime, “various PNA units ramped up their efforts to combat the drug trafficking threat in our country, resulting in the arrest of 1,186 drug traffickers and preventing the introduction of 17.12 tons of processed cannabis from the borders with Morocco, while also seizing 663 kilograms of cocaine and 24 million psychotropic tablets.”

Additionally, “these high-quality operations led to the arrest of 7,770 individuals and the seizure of 921 vehicles, along with 3,281 pneumatic drills, 5,523 generators, 172 metal detectors, 1,403,382 liters of fuel, 760 tons of tobacco, and 758.55 quintals of food products intended for smuggling and speculation, during separate operations nationwide,” the report said.

Moreover, “joint PNA detachments apprehended 12,825 illegal immigrants of various nationalities across the national territory,” the assessment concluded.
