Algeria: 18 Dead, 9 Injured After Bus Plunges into River

A tragic incident occurred on Friday when a passenger bus skidded off a bridge and plunged into the Oued El Harrach (El Harrach River) in the capital, Algiers. This horrifying event resulted in the deaths of 18 people and left 9 others injured, as confirmed by Lieutenant Nasim Bernawi, deputy director of statistics and information at the Civil Protection Directorate.
Lieutenant Bernawi reported that two of the injured individuals are in critical condition but have been stabilized before being transferred to a local hospital. Meanwhile, the deceased have been taken to the mortuary at the same facility.
The report also indicated that civil protection services began their intervention shortly after the incident was reported at 5:46 PM, and search operations for any additional victims are still ongoing.
