Al-Arabiya’s Deepfake on Abdel Nasser: A Failed Attempt to Undermine Algeria-Egypt Brotherhood and Arab Unity

By broadcasting an alleged archive in which Gamal Abdel Nasser, a historic figure of the Arab world, would minimize Algeria’s role during the Six-Day War of 1967, this channel once again confirms its mission: to distort History, sow discord, and tarnish the most committed Arab nations in the cause of the peoples.

Who is afraid of the understanding between Algiers and Cairo? Who is afraid of the positions of Algeria and Egypt? Who is afraid that the united Arab force advocated by President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi might take shape?

Egyptian officers, when they recall the October War of 1973, always emphasize Algeria’s decisive contribution, both financially and militarily.

They recall with respect and gratitude the courage of the Algerian soldiers who fell on the front lines for the liberation of their Egyptian brothers and sisters, as well as the hundreds of losses inflicted on Zionist soldiers thanks to their commitment.

This shared memory explains the profound affection that the overwhelming majority of the Egyptian people feel for Algeria.

All remember the historic gesture of President Houari Boumediene, who did not hesitate to go to Moscow to obtain weapons for Egypt, personally guaranteeing their payment. This act of solidarity illustrates the unbreakable brotherhood that unites the two peoples in trials as well as in victory.

– A grotesque falsification –

This deepfake, fabricated thanks to artificial intelligence technologies, is nothing more than a historical fraud, the fraud of lies, which is the channel’s engine of dissemination.

If Nasser had made such remarks, the international press, official archives, or speeches of the time would bear witness to it. Nothing of the sort exists. The “video” is therefore nothing but an edit intended to deceive public opinion. The late Abdel Nasser fought against Zionism, always advocated the unity of the Arab peoples, and was always a steadfast supporter of Algeria.

– A targeted attack against Algeria and Egypt –

It is no coincidence that Algeria is once again in the crosshairs. Since its independence, it has always pursued a diplomacy of principle: solidarity with peoples, support for just causes, and rejection of imperialist diktats.

In this operation, certain Algerian intellectuals and personalities were questioned by the channel. It is essential to clarify that their statements do not stem from complacency or betrayal. On the contrary, they often express themselves out of love and jealousy for their country, driven by a demand for truth and patriotism. Their good faith is beyond doubt.

But the perfidy of Al-Arabiya lies precisely in its ability to distort these interventions, to instrumentalize them in order to give them a political color foreign to their original meaning. Thus, what was a sincere and loyal discourse becomes, in the hands of this disinformation machine, a weapon against Algeria and against Arab unity.

The Saudi channel is known for its biased editorial line and its disinformation campaigns, and it has already demonstrated its propensity to manipulate facts, rewrite History, and spread the poison of division in the Arab world. The staging around Gamal Abdel Nasser is only one additional episode in a dark series of media maneuvers.

History cannot be falsified! The Algerian-Egyptian friendship, forged in struggles and in blood, cannot be broken by digital fabrications.

Al-Arabiya may multiply manipulations, but it will never succeed in erasing Algeria’s contribution to the Arab cause, nor in tarnishing the prestige of Nasser’s Egypt. The Algerians know how to distinguish truth from lies. The intellectuals and participants, driven by their patriotism, will continue to defend their country with sincerity.

But it is up to everyone to remain vigilant in the face of attempts at division, to denounce manipulation, and to remind people of historical truths. For what is at stake is not only the image of a country, but the dignity and memory of a people, and with them the future of an entire region.
