Airstrike on Iraqi Base Kills Seven, Injures 13 — Defense Ministry Condemns Attack

Seven soldiers were killed and 13 others injured when an airstrike hit a military clinic and an engineering unit at the Habbaniyah base, west of Baghdad, Wednesday morning, the Iraqi Defense Ministry said.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the ministry said the strike was followed by additional fire from an aircraft as rescue teams continued searching the site. The attack targeted personnel carrying out their “national and humanitarian duties” and was described as a “blatant and serious violation of international laws and norms that prohibit targeting medical facilities and their staff.”
The ministry called the strike “a dangerous escalation” and stressed that attacking medical facilities constitutes “a grave crime.” It warned that Iraq reserves the right to respond with all necessary measures under applicable laws. The perpetrators were not identified.
The attack comes amid the ongoing US-zionist air campaign on Iran, which has killed over 1,340 people since Feb. 28, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
