Air Algérie signs MoU with Turkish Airlines

ALGIERS, Oct 9, 2025 – Algerian carrier Air Algérie signed Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Turkish Airlines to strengthen their strategic partnership, the airline said in a statement.

Signed at Air Algérie’s headquarters “Said Ait Messaoudene” by its CEO Hamza Benhamouda and Bilal Eksi, Director General of Turkish Airlines, the agreement “opens new prospects for both sides to expand their existing codeshare arrangement and enhance connectivity between their respective networks,” the statement said.

The MoU also aims to provide passengers of both airlines with more destination options, it added.

In addition to the expansion of code-sharing, the memorandum will broaden cooperation across various aviation-related services, including cargo operations, aircraft leasing, catering, technical maintenance, ground handling, and access to VIP lounges.

The two carriers will also launch joint sustainability initiatives to protect the environment and collaborate in training and capacity building.

Quoting Benhamouda, the statement said: “This memorandum marks another step forward in strengthening the ties between our two airlines and our two countries. We are delighted to take this new step in our strategic partnership with Turkish Airlines. This comprehensive agreement, covering several areas of cooperation and expertise exchange, will undoubtedly bring mutual benefits to both companies and their customers.”

For his part, Eksi said the continued partnership with Air Algérie “reflects a commitment to sustainable and long-term collaboration,” calling the agreement “a major milestone in strengthening ties between the two airlines.”

Air Algérie and Turkish Airlines have been linked by a codeshare agreement since 2016, which was expanded in 2024 to include new destinations in Turkey, Asia, and Africa.
