Air Algérie Receives Its First Aircraft Under Its Fleet-Reinforcement Program

ALGIERS, 13 Nov 2025 – The Algerian national airline, Air Algérie, received on Thursday at Algiers’ Houari Boumediene International Airport its first aircraft under the program to renew and expand its fleet, in the presence of the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud.

The aircraft is an Airbus A330neo with 308 seats, whose first commercial flight is scheduled for next Saturday toward the Canadian city of Montreal.

The reception ceremony was also attended by Air Algérie’s CEO, Hamza Benhamouda, the Director General of Customs, Major General Abdelhafid Bakhouche, and the Secretary General of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), Amar Takdjout.

Speaking on this occasion, Sayoud stated that the acquisition of the aircraft, named “November 54,” represents “a genuine starting point toward the realization of a comprehensive vision for developing national air transport and strengthening Algeria’s position on the international stage,” in line with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The aircraft cabin has three classes: 18 seats in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy, and 266 in Economy. Among the advantages of this aircraft are a fuel consumption reduced by more than 25 percent, as well as lower CO₂ emissions per seat compared to previous generations.

It is also equipped with modern entertainment systems, including Wi-Fi service.

It should be noted that Air Algérie launched in 2023 a fleet renewal program with the acquisition of eight Boeing 737 MAX-9 aircraft and eight Airbus A330-900 aircraft, before recently increasing its order to ten aircraft from the European manufacturer.

Another order concerns the acquisition of 16 ATR 72-600 aircraft in 2025 to strengthen the domestic network.

Air Algérie’s action plan, which extends until 2035, includes further acquisition operations designed to better meet local and international demand.
