In 2024, the national airline, Air Algérie, carried nearly 8 million passengers and expects to reach 8.5 million passengers in 2025, not including, Domestic Airlines (Air Algérie subsidiary), which is projected to carry 1.5 million passengers, stated the airline’s CEO, Hamza Benhamouda.
In an interview with APS, Benhamouda emphasized that to meet the growing demand for air transport, particularly during peak and high-season periods, Air Algérie has committed to increasing its daily flight frequency by one-third, operating more than 320 flights per day during the summer of 2025, compared to 230 flights during the same period in 2024.
“This significant capacity expansion has occasionally led to operational disruptions and schedule irregularities, causing inconvenience to passengers. With the upcoming integration of new aircraft into the fleet, these challenges will be progressively resolved,” he stated.
Regarding service improvement and competitive pricing, the CEO emphasized that Air Algérie is intensifying its promotional fare offerings to ensure that Algerians, both at home and abroad, can travel to and from Algeria at affordable prices while maintaining high standards of onboard comfort and, above all, passenger safety.
“This balance is particularly challenging given the fierce competition on the most profitable routes,” he added.
Besides, the development of commercial agreements with world-class airlines will contribute to expanding and diversifying the fare offerings for customers, he continued, adding that “this is the role of the national carrier, and Air Algérie embraces it with pride and conviction, and will continue to offer our customers the best possible fares, banking on State’s ongoing support and the dedication of Air Algérie staff at every stopover.”
