80,000 Spaniards Demand Resignation of Carlos Mazon Over Hurricane Dana Response

Around 80,000 Spaniards gathered in Valencia to demand the resignation of Carlos Mazon, Chairman of the Government of Spanish Valencia, over his handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Dana. Protesters blame Mazon for the ongoing struggles in flooded areas, accusing him of neglecting his duties during the crisis.

“While people were drowning, [Mazon] was having lunch at a restaurant,” a demonstrator claimed. Residents also criticized the delayed government response, noting that rubble clearance began only a week after farmers and volunteers initiated the work.

The flooding, caused by record rainfall on October 29, resulted in widespread destruction and the deaths of over 200 people in eastern Spain, intensifying public anger over Mazon’s perceived inaction.
