6.2 Magnitude Quake Hits Istanbul’s Coast, No Casualties Reported

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Istanbul on Wednesday. Fortunately, local authorities reported no casualties or damage.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) indicated that the quake occurred near Silivri in the Sea of Marmara, shortly before 1:00 PM local time (10:00 AM GMT).
At least two tremors, occurring just seconds apart, were strongly felt throughout all neighborhoods of the metropolis, which is home to approximately 16 million residents.
In the wake of the panic caused by the strong shaking, thousands of people took to the streets. Authorities have confirmed that there were no injuries or damages reported.
