Cameroon: Three Militants Killed in Army Operation in Far North Region

At least three militants from the group Boko Haram were killed during an operation by the army of Cameroon in the Far North region, media outlets reported Friday, citing local sources.
According to a member of a local vigilance committee, the operation took place Wednesday in the locality of Ndrock, in the district of Mokolo, in the Mayo-Tsanaga department, near the border with Nigeria.
Members of the armed group were reportedly spotted heading toward mountainous areas. After being alerted, defense and security forces intervened and are said to have set up an ambush.
Local sources also reported an attack the previous day in the same region, during which Cameroonian soldiers were reportedly killed.
The Far North region of Cameroon remains regularly targeted by attacks from Boko Haram, despite military operations and joint efforts by countries in the region to combat terrorism in the Lake Chad Basin.
