ALGIERS, March 12, 2026 – A new passenger bus route linking Algiers and Tunis was inaugurated Thursday as part of efforts to strengthen the international transport network and facilitate the movement of people between Algeria and Tunisia.

The launch ceremony took place at the Caroubier Bus Station in Algiers under the supervision of Djamel Eddine Abdelghani Dridi, Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, representing the minister of the sector, Saïd Sayoud, in the presence of local officials.

According to explanations provided by the Société d’exploitation des gares routières d’Algérie (SOGRAL), the line connects the Caroubier bus station with the Bab Alioua Bus Station in Tunis, passing through Bordj Bou Arréridj, Sétif, and Constantine, with two trips scheduled per week.

In addition, another line linking Annaba and Tunis via El Tarf is scheduled to start Friday, with four weekly trips. Together, the two lines will initially operate six weekly trips, a number that could increase to twenty depending on demand.

The two routes will be operated by the Algerian company El Djamaïa Transport and Services Company and the Tunisian Société nationale de transport interurbain (SNTRI).

According to the same source, ticket prices are set at 6000 Algerian dinars for the Algiers–Tunis route and 2300 dinars for the Annaba–Tunis route.

Regarding booking procedures, SOGRAL said passengers can purchase tickets online through the Mahattati application or at ticket counters in bus stations using local or international payment cards.
