Palestinian Journalists’ Union Condemns Zionist Measures Against Journalists

The Palestinian Journalists’ Union condemned the escalating measures being taken by the Zionist occupation authorities against journalists and media outlets in occupied Al-Quds.
The union said in a statement that these measures are part of a “systematic policy” aimed at restricting freedom of press work and obscuring the Palestinian narrative, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
It further confirmed that it had documented the issuance of banishment orders barring ten journalists and photographers from Al-Aqsa Mosque, in an attempt to stop them from doing their jobs and covering events inside the Mosque and its surroundings.
Accordingly, the union also pointed to a decision by the Zionist occupation army to ban four Palestinian media outlets and platforms, which was followed by the harassment, summoning and threatening of their employees.
In the same context, the Journalists’ Union condemned the arrest of journalist Nesrine Salem and her interrogation over several days, prior to her release under conditions that included house arrest and a prohibition on the use of her phone and social media, considering that these restrictions constitute a flagrant violation of freedom of opinion and expression and a direct assault on her right to practice her journalistic work.
It further stressed that these measures “constitute a violation of international law and relevant international resolutions on the protection of journalists,” urging the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and all international institutions concerned with press freedom to intervene urgently to put an end to these violations and guarantee freedom of the press in Al-Quds and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.
