Palestine: UNRWA Flags Concern Over UN Rights Report on “Ethnic Cleansing”

The Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, expressed concern on Monday over the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding “ethnic cleansing” in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as a result of the intense Zionist attacks and the forced displacement of Palestinian civilians.
The UN official said, in a post on his official social media accounts, that the report, covering the period from the beginning of November to the end of October 2025 “lays bare the destruction of neighborhoods in Gaza and the expulsion of communities, tantamount to ethnic cleansing.” Lazzarini underlined that the report “spotlights other horrors, the continued killing and maiming, the blockade that pushed Gaza into famine, and torture,” adding that “it exposes violence and displacement in the West Bank.” In this respect, he stressed the need to put an end to this situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, pointing out that accountability is essential and a key condition for achieving a just and lasting peace in Palestine.
