Iranian Spokesman Says Iran Preparing Positions for Next Nuclear Talks With US

Iranian spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran is currently drafting and preparing its positions for the next round of nuclear negotiations with the United States, stressing that discussions between the two sides remain ongoing. Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, the spokesperson addressed questions about Iran’s proposed text for upcoming talks and dismissed speculation about the possibility of an interim agreement, saying such claims have no basis.
Baqaei emphasized that the details of the negotiation process are determined within the negotiating room and described drafting a negotiation text as a joint task between the parties. He noted that Iran is formulating its own positions, particularly regarding the lifting of unjust sanctions and nuclear-related issues, while remaining fully aware of Washington’s views. He added that any negotiation process must be mutual and cannot be based on forcing one-sided concessions.
According to the spokesman, both sides are currently in the stage of drafting their positions, and Tehran hopes another round of talks can be held within the next two to three days. He reiterated that negotiations aimed at imposing unilateral demands would not produce results and stressed that Iran remains serious about pursuing diplomacy because it is confident in the legitimacy of its stance.
Baqaei also rejected claims that Iran is prolonging the negotiations, stating that such assertions are unfounded. He said Tehran has repeatedly expressed readiness to continue talks without interruption for weeks if necessary, but emphasized that negotiations are meaningful only if they lead to concrete outcomes, particularly the swift removal of sanctions.
