Niger: Army “Neutralizes” Around Forty Terrorists in One Week

Niger’s Defense and Security Forces (DSF) announced that they had “neutralized” 43 terrorists across the country between February 9 and 15.

“During the same period, 28 suspects and alleged accomplices belonging to armed terrorist groups were also apprehended,” the same source said Wednesday.

According to the weekly bulletin issued by the armed forces and broadcast on the national channel Télé-Sahel, the results were achieved through a series of targeted operations carried out by ground troops with the support of coordinated airstrikes, adding that “the operations led to the seizure of significant quantities of weapons, magazines, and ammunition.”

The bulletin further noted that “the forces discovered and confiscated sensitive logistical materiel, including 5,452 sticks of dynamite, 68 rolls of detonating cord, 68,000 liters of smuggled fuel, as well as hundreds of thousands of harmful pills intended to supply criminal networks.”
