Haddadi: African Solutions to Crisis Threatening Continent Essential

African solutions to African problems are essential to resolving the crises threatening the continent, stated African Union Commission (AUC) Deputy Chairperson Selma Malika Haddadi.
In a statement to APS on the outcomes of the 39th Ordinary Session of the Summit of African Union Heads of State and Government (14-15 February), Haddadi noted that the “African Union is intensifying its efforts to resolve existing conflicts by prioritizing political dialogue and mediation.” She emphasized that the active contribution of member states in implementing these initiatives is vital to restoring stability, security, and peace across the continent.
Regarding the Italy-Africa Summit held in Addis Ababa on February 13, organized in parallel with the AU Summit, Haddadi highlighted the significance of the event, which was attended by African leaders and Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
This marked a historic first for such a gathering to be held on African soil.
In this regard, she underscored the African Union’s strategic partnerships with international organizations and global powers, including the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), the Arab League, the United States (US), Russia, China, Turkey, and India.
