Nunez Voices Hope for Continued Algeria-France Cooperation

French Minister of Interior Laurent Nunez expressed on Tuesday, in Algiers, his satisfaction with his visit to Algeria and his hope that cooperation between the two countries will continue.
“I just met with the President of the Republic, who accorded me the honor of receiving me after spending the entire previous day working with my counterpart (Saïd Sayoud), as well as with all senior officials of the Algerian and French security services,” he stated at the conclusion of the audience granted to him by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Nunez emphasized that the goal is to “reactivate a very high-level security cooperation framework,” adding that it “covers judicial, police and intelligence cooperation, in order to strengthen and restore normal security relations.” The French minister went on to thank the President of the Republic, noting that he “requested that his services work with the French authorities to significantly improve our cooperation in police, judicial, and readmission matters.” He underscored that “all of this will now be implemented as quickly as possible,” expressing his hope that this cooperation “will continue” at “the highest level.”
