Mauritania’s Energy Minister Leads High-Level Delegation to Algeria for Energy Talks

The Minister of Energy and Oil of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Khaled, is set to start a two-day working visit to Algeria on Sunday, accompanied by a high-level delegation, the Algerian Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines announced in a statement.
The delegation includes officials from major Mauritanian companies active in the energy sector, such as the Mauritanian Petroleum Company (SMH), the Mauritanian Electricity Company (SOMELEC), and the Mauritanian Refining Company (SOMIR), along with several senior officials from the ministry, the statement said.
This visit comes within the framework of strengthening the fraternal and cooperative relations between Algeria and Mauritania, and embodies the shared will to advance the bilateral partnership, particularly in the fields of hydrocarbons, mining, energy, renewable energies, and training, the source added.
The Mauritanian minister will hold talks with the Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, as well as with the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, focusing on ways to expand bilateral cooperation, exchange expertise, and explore partnership and investment opportunities in projects of mutual interest.
He will also hold working meetings with officials from the Sonatrach and Sonelgaz groups to learn about the Algerian experience in the fields of exploration and production, the development of energy infrastructure, and the management of electricity and gas systems, as well as training and capacity-building programs.
